I have been having guitar lessons with Simon for just over 12 months. It's my dream to be a really competent guitar player and from my first lesson with him he has made me feel that I can be that, making my lessons very enjoyable whilst learning so much at the same time. His knowledge of music of all genres is second to none, my lessons have not only improved my guitar playing, I have also been on a kind of musical journey. Although I'm still getting to grips with guitar tab and sheet music, he never shows anything else but patience and humour while I have tried to comprehend what the symbols mean. He's a friendly and approachable person, you never feel that you've just asked a daft question with him and he puts you at ease in the lessons while you are trying to get to grips with what he is teaching you, nothing is too much trouble for him. He is an excellent musician, dedicated to his art and would be an asset to any guitar student.

I have been taught by simon for about 18 months. In this time I have found Simon an Excellent teacher, his lessons are very relaxed and he makes you feel very much at ease. His teaching techniques are clear and easy to understand. The lessons are well structured and always moves at your own pace, willing to redo anything your not sure of. I have been taught by Simon for 4 years in which time I have found the musical education invaluable. His lessons are adapted for my interests and are based on the practical and the theory. The help in my GCSE and A Levels helped me achieve the Top grades, he would help me learn the pieces as well as teaching me about minimilisim and classical music. Simon is more than a teacher he is a mentor for any progressing musicians as his motivation and inspiration is just as fascinating as his playing. I would happily recommend him as a teacher.

My 14 year old daughter has been having guitar lessons with Simon for approximately 18 months. Simon has an approachable teaching style which makes lessons fun and enjoyable. He encourages development at the pupil’s pace and ensures that theory and techniques are fully explained and integrated into lessons appropriately. He has a very positive approach and encourages pupils at every stage. Simon has a wide ranging knowledge of musical styles and is happy to work on the pupil’s choice of music, adapting where necessary according to ability. Simon has been employed by the school to teach guitar on a part-time basis since June 2009. I would strongly recommend that you consider employing Simon for three main reasons: he sets extremely high standards for both himself and for the students and he has proved very reliable; he has built up guitar tuition dramatically in a relatively short period of time; and he is very versatile and able to offer a wide variety of guitar and musical styles. Before we employed Simon we had three students having regular guitar tuition. Simon has steadily built this up and we now not only have 28 students having regular lesson but have a waiting list of 10 students. Simon is able to teach more advanced students individually and beginners in groups of 3. He really enthuses students and the majority of students practice regularly both at home and in groups at break, lunch and after school.

Simon has worked at Belgrave Primary during the academic years 2009/2014.
He has taught acoustic and electric guitar to a range of students of different ages and abilities. He has taught the children in groups and has adopted a variety of teaching styles to enable his pupils to reach their potential. He has a good relationship with the children and they are all keen to attend their lessons.
Simon is extremely conscientious. He is prepared for every lesson and keeps the children motivated with new material. In a very short time, he prepared two students to play a Blues Brothers number at our show at the Repertory Theatre in Stoke-on-Trent.
I am pleased that Simon is continuing to teach at our school this year and feel sure that new pupils will be joining his groups.

Simon has been teaching Ethan for about a year now and it's incredible to see the level of progress he has made. I have attended the Stoke on Trent School of Rock now for just over 12 months. I find Simon to be a great Teacher. He has plenty of patience and can always find an easier way to explain things. His studio is a pleasant place to learn and is equipped with all the technology a budding guitarist would need whether it’s electric or acoustic you would like to play.
So if you are young or old and would like to learn to play the guitar for personal pleasure or may be a few tunes with the family or round a camp fire, or you might want something more such as a professional qualification, I can highly recommend Simon of Stoke on Trent School of Rock.

Even though I had always wanted to learn to play the guitar, I didn't do anything about it until I was 40. I decided somewhat nervously to book a first lesson with Simon. I needn't have worried. I was immediately put at ease with his easygoing personality. He took time to find out what I wanted to achieve and what my musical interests were and we took it from there. He's really encouraging and keeps me going even though the difficult stuff. I'm learning to play all my favourite styles of music and it's so rewarding. I never thought I could do it!

Simon has been a wonderful teacher for my son. He has come on so well in the past 12 months and he really looks forward to his lesson. Guitar is now something he is passionate about and I put this down to the way he's been taught.

I've been learning acoustic guitar with Simon for nearly a year now. As a beginner I have found his lessons have greatly improved my all around guitar skills as well as being entertaining. I have really enjoyed my jazz guitar lessons with Simon. I have learnt a lot with him, on soloing, improvisation, theory and more. He is very knowledgeable on jazz, blues, rock and other types of guitar music - I would thoroughly recommend him!

William has been having Lessons with Stoke on Trent School of Rock for two years, a combination of school sessions at Wetley Rocks and one to one with Mr Oxborrow. Simon Oxborrow has been my son's guitar teacher for nearly two years, during this time my son has become the most improved child in his year class at school and as achieved level 3 in his year 2, SATs tests and I attribute my sons development and change in attitude to learning to his guitar lessons with Simon, my son continues to learn both the electric and acoustic guitar and the change in his ability and aptitude to learning is quite remarkable and I would highly recommend Simon in his music teaching ability.

As soon as you meet Simon he makes you feel at ease, his teaching methods are really easy to understand, if you have any questions or concerns, he has no problem going over anything as many times as is needed. My two daughters both have guitar lessons with Simon Oxborrow and have really enjoyed them. Their playing has improved greatly and my eldest has taken part in several concerts as a result. Stoke on Trent School of Rock Guitar club is popular and well attended with new children joining at the begining of each term. It has been accredited as part of. Staffordshire university's children's University. The popularity is such that we now have to have 2 classes, one for intermediate and one for beginners.
Children are taught well and receive personalised attention in order to improve their playing.
Parents have remarked on the value for money that these lessons offer.
Children love the music that is played and love the opportunity to perform in services and the G-factor
It's a popular club that offers skills and opportunities that we would, under normal circumstances, not be able to offer.

I have been having lessons with Mr. Oxborrow for 12 months now and have enjoyed it very much indeed. I feel the lessons have been formed to fit my particular needs as being an older student, with specific problems, Simon has had to be quite patient. He has also taught my teenage daughter with equal success. Both my daughter and I would highly recommend Simon as a tutor.

Not only have her guitar skills improved; so have her life skills, as he has bought her out of her shell and she has a new found confidence in everything that she does.
